Lido Shores also has some of the best and varied water views in Sarasota - come and walk through gardens by the Gulf. See breathtaking views of the Bay and Ringling Bridge. Enjoy the protected waterway of Pansy Bayou, take in lovely New Pass views, and more. Tours are exteriors only this year, but with a variety of water and garden vistas. Several new houses this year, some rarely seen. Of note is the Carl Abbott Putterman Residence on Pansy Bayou, long considered one of Abbott’s masterpieces.

Visit a selection of personally-curated Carl Abbott residential and commercial projects.  Short videos, created especially for SarasotaMOD Weekend 2020, capture Abbott as he explains his creative process for many of these projects. Tour includes access to multiple exterior properties. Videos will be available for viewing via personal smartphone or tablet at each applicable site via WiFi hot spots.

Tour includes residential and commercial buildings in South Sarasota, Siesta Key and Casey Key. Exterior access only.

Please be aware you will likely be walking on uneven land, dirt, grass, etc. Please dress appropriately.

Tour is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes driving time; total time approximately 3 hours.

$50 includes 2-passenger car pass
$20 per additional passenger

3 tours - launching 9am, 12noon, 3pm

Siesta Key paddlers, accompanied by an architectural guide, will experience unique water views of select Carl Abbott houses, along with Paul Rudolph’s “Cocoon House” and several contemporary modernist homes that can not be easily seen from the road. A nature guide will also help paddlers keep an eye out for manatees, dolphins, birds, and other wildlife.

Please be advised that this is not a boat tour. This activity may require participants to propel themselves through sometimes wavy and windy waters. Some kayak experience is suggested, but not necessary. Kayaking route is approximately 2 hours. Not advised for those with health conditions or children under age 6.
